January 5, 2017

The holidays are finally over! I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the season, but I also feel like I have finally re-emerged from an alternative universe. It’s like I went down the rabbit hole and enjoyed weeks of twinkle lights, decadent meals, fun parties, beautiful trinkets, and I am finally back home after the magical journey.

And now that I am back, I am most excited...

What is your most significant New Year’s Resolution? This year, I’m going BIG.

In 2017 my mission is to live a life based on love. I want to do everything in my power to spread positive energy throughout my life, starting on the inside, and radiating out to my family and friends, home, work environment and world around me. As we enter into the New Year, I’m seeking to unearth new...

One early morning a couple of months ago, I sat at my computer with a cup of yogi tea. Before unlocking my screen and beginning my day’s work, I read the quote on my yogi tea bag.

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” Lao Tzu

My whole being sighed with relief.

I am not kidding when I say my days have been a fast-paced blur since I got my first BlackBerry for work...

December 28, 2016

As I sit down to write this, I’m smiling knowing that I need support in this area perhaps more than any of my readers! Every year, December is a month of gradually advancing gluttony that crescendos around the 25th with a full-blown sugar- and wine-fest. This is invariably followed by passionate resolve to make the next year all about getting fit and back into shape. Sound famili...

If middle age has brought me anything, it’s foot wisdom! My painfully trodden path to enlightenment began around age four. As a toddler, my mom swears I insisted on buying ill-fitting shoes (sometimes two or more sizes off) just for the sake of fashion. Fast forward 20 years, and despite deteriorating feet, I was still justifying choices—like clubbing and walking back and forth t...

Most of us are heading into a 3-day weekend that will quite possibly be filled with houseguests. When I have a house full of family, I always want to make something special for breakfast but can rarely find the time to get things prepared before everyone has given in to hunger. Now, I have baked oatmeal!

I came across a recipe by Anna Stockwell at Epicurious that is super easy and...

The holidays seem to be rife with trash, trash and more trash. From gift boxes, wrapping paper, bows and mailing boxes to food containers, our trash bins seem to be filled to the very brim this time of year.

And the question always arises: Is this recyclable?

We desperately wanted to give you a definitive answer on what is and isn’t recyclable. Unfortunately, while local trash comp...

One of my favorite things about fall and winter is that I get to walk around with a thermos, or a Jiva water bottle, filled with a delicious, hot drink all day long. The cold makes the hot drink particularly enjoyable. The hot drink makes the cold more endurable. I could go to Starbucks multiple times a day to get my fix, but these three caffeine-free beverages are so easy to mak...

I’m not going to lie—it’s been a frustrating week and I’ve been unusually cranky. Nothing major—just an accumulation of little irritations and far too much to do (hello, holiday cheer!), and my inner light has felt like it’s not shining as brightly as usual. In the old days, pre-kids, pre-business, I would have picked up a copy of one of my favorite inspirational self-help books,...

December 7, 2016

On those days when the world is swirling around us and everyone in our proximity seems to want a piece of us, the default is to sacrifice ourselves for everyone else and dismiss our needs. We put our heads down and plough through as best we can, thinking we will eventually find a moment to breathe.

I have come to find that if during those days I take a step back and steal 10 minut...
